Complete run of the first twenty (whole number) volumes. Profusely illustrated from photographs, paintings, etc. throughout. With publisher's printed volume number titles at the front of each. 13x9½, weekly magazines, bound in the publisher's gilt-stamped red cloth, Vols. I-XIII with a oval gilt portrait vignette of F.G. Tait on the front cover (who is pictured on the cover of the first issue - Vol. I, No. 1), all with the same style gilt lettering with golf ball vignettes, ruled in black.
Rare and important early golfing magazines, handsomely bound by the publisher, containing all of the major reported historical events, interviews, results, stories and advertisements from the 1899 to 1904. The first twenty volumes, seldom seen offered together in a single collection. Individually, these magazines are extremely difficult to obtain. For a complete run like this, nothing comparable found in auction records or elsewhere. Covers and added volume titles, with: Golf Illustrated. With Which is Incorportated "Golf." Vol. XX wrinkled front free endpaper with pencil signature of Jack White, perhaps the same as the author of Putting (1921) and Easier Golf (1924). Also, there is a Jack White (of Seaford) pictured twice on page 12 in Vol. I, No. 1.
