xv, [1], vii, [1], 126 pp. With 13 wood engravings by Thomas Bewick, including the title-page vignette. (lg. 4to) 11½x8¾, period tan calf. First Bewick Edition.

All but one of the striking wood engravings by Thomas Bewick are from designs by his younger brother John. A handsome, large paper copy, printed on watermarked Whatman paper.

Condition:

Spine rubbed and worn, joints cracking, some rubbing to covers; title-page lightly foxed, internally near fine, with the bookplate of Sir John E. Swinburne.
