The Arctic Bibliography, 6486, describes the present work. "This expedition (like that of 1860-62) was supported by private subscription and both were undertaken to search for the records of the Franklin Expedition and `to promote and benefit the cause of geography, navigation, natural history and science.' From winter quarters in the Wagner Inlet and Repulse Bay regions, Hall's four man party explored the shores north and west from Melville Peninsula to King William Island, 1864-69."
