[16] (of 20), 549 [i.e. 525], [1] pp. (pi6 [lacks pi1-2], ¶4, A-3T4, 3V2). With added engraved title-page, engraved portrait leaf, and 15 copper-engraved plates engraved by Salomon Savery after Franz Cleyn. (folio) 12¼x8, later (19th century?) calf, marbled endpapers.

Nice early English edition of Ovid's Metamorphoses with dramatic and finely-engraved plates. The present copy was bound without the printed title-page and another preliminary leaf; the first printed page is the dedication to Prince Charles, King of Great Britaine, France, and Ireland. Ink signatures of James Atkinson and Pietor Froome to the title-page; Atkinson has also written his name in the lower margin of many of the plates, and there are a few other ink notations within in an early hand.
