Large collection of approximately 100 different American and European cigar box label printer's proofs. Mostly inners with some flaps and ends, many in full color, vast majority titled, all with color bars, registration marks and/or print color notations on label. Includes Arthurettes inner (President Chester Arthur), A.D.S. inner (cigar), El Telegrafo outer (Alexander Graham Bell), Garcia inner (2 allegorical women of commerce), Henry Peck inner (male portrait), Lady Wayne end (female portrait), Mejorana inner (female portrait), Queen of India inner (female portrait), 3 Bros. Cigars (group portrait) and Red King inner (Spanish cavalier). Various sizes, mostly chromolithographed on coated stock.

Cigar box label proofs are far less common than their finished versions. Usually only one or two proofs per color were printed for each label and few survived beyond the production stage. Not all lithographic companies archived their proofs and even fewer firms created duplicate proofs to show cigar box manufacturers or cigar makers.
