Vol. I, No. 3, September 25, 1880. 8 pages. With large wood-engraved portrait of General Winfield Scott Hancock on the first page. 16¾x11½.

Scarce campaign newspaper issued as the Civil War veteran, wounded at Gettysburg and conspicuous in the battles of the Wilderness, Spottsylvania and Cold Harbor, was running as the Democratic candidate for president. Although defeated by Garfield, he had much support from his fellow Civil War veterans, as indicated by the many letters and tributes printed in the newspaper. Among the advertisements are some for marching club gear.
