Originally intended to span the years of 1493 to 1776 the six volumes end with the year 1750. Entirely superseding Joseph Sabin's Bibliotheca Americana, which appeared between 1868 and 1936, European Americana is now the most comprehensive bibliographical guide to the entire printed record of European consciousness of the Americas.
