[viii], 176 pp. 24 hand colored lithographs. (8vo) 9½x6, contemporary half green morocco and marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt.

Hogg was instrumental in preserving most of the apple varieties in Great Britian, and in reviving the cider industry. Thomas Moore, a highly respected horticulturalist who laid out the gardens in Regent's Park, assisted Hogg. Each illustration is accompanied by a lengthy description of the plant and its cultivation.

Condition:

Marbled paper on front lacking a sizeable piece, joints and edges rubbed, some marginal dampstaining, a few plates trimmed into caption, light foxing; else very good.
