One sheet only of the Covens & Mortier reduced four-sheet version of the Popple map of North America, this one containing the title cartouche and showing the Gulf of Mexico, with southern coast of North America including Florida, Central America, much of Mexico, Cuba (except for the eastern tip), etc. Popple's 20-sheet (in addition to the key) map of British North America is noted in Schwartz & Ehrenberg (Plate 90) as "the first large-scale printed map of North America," although they do add that "it abounds with geographic distortions, errors, and omissions, all of these emphasized by its size." This beautifully engraved reduction has a delicate pictorial cartouche with natives, fauna, and encroaching Europeans. The coloring on the map appears original but that on the cartouche is certainly later; it is virtually never found with contemporary coloring.
