Description:

Color WWI poster; image covers the entire sheet. 44¾x31½".

A French soldier stands in "No-Man's Land" with a shell embedded near his feet. Title lettered in the smoke in the background. Bottom lettered and translated from the French: "Twice I’ve stood and overcome on the Marne, my civilian brother. The underhanded ‘peace offensive’ will attack you in turn. Like me, you must stand and overcome. Be strong and careful, beware of Boche hypocrisy." Signed in the print at lower right "Maurice Neumont, 1918".

Condition:

Chips and tears to edges, chips mended with later paper, large piece replaced to bottom left corner which has been hand-colored and hand-lettered, old folds, mild soiling; else good. Scarce.
