Two volumes in one. xlviii, 197, [1], 138; 348, [2] pp. (4to) 10x8, later calf backed marbled boards. First Edition.

An occult classic in which the author tried to construct knowledge of Biblical Hebrew by comparison with Arabic, Greek, Chinese, and other ancient languages. Fabre D'Olivet construed Hebrew grammar as applicable to most other languages on the basis of his analysis of its roots. Includes a translation of the first ten chapters of Genesis into literal English and French (along with Fabre's spiritual interpretation and copious notes). With the ownership signature of Samuel Yorke AtLee on half title and first leaf of text.
