Twenty-six full years, nearly consecutive, of this monthly journal which has gained great importance for the historical articles and insights into American influence in Hawaii during the middle of the nineteenth century. Interspersed as these are with seaman's yarns and moralistic homilies dedicated to saving the whalers and sailors from the evil influences of drink and debauchery, the periodical evokes the essence of a Hawaii struggling between the influences of the West and the lures of Polynesia. With a separate title page and contents leaf for each year and including the supplemental issues for 8/67, 7/68, 12/68, 7/69, 6/70. 7/70, 7/71, 11/71, 7/72, 8/72, 12/72, 7/73, 11/74, 7/75, 12/75, 7/76, 6/78, 2/79, 12/79, 1/81, 8/81, 10/81, 12/81.
