The Opera of the 4/5th century church patriarch and saint, one-time Bishop of Alexandria, whose heavy-handed methods included his involvement in the murder of the pagan philosopher Hypatia by a mob of Cyril-supporters. His prominence in Christianity, however, stems from his defense of the concept of Christ as the son of God against the Nestorian belief of Christ as human.
